Really Lucas?

Weber should have expected a blindside hit because Pacioretty hit Kadri from behind?

You can blame the refs all night long for missing the call and letting this escalate.

But it was a cheap shot by Kadri, responding to a cheap shot he received a few seconds before.

Dumb plays and dangerous stuff all around.

Shoulder on shoulder. Weber's gotta keep his head up.

I believe if the rule book had been followed properly, Weber, being the 3rd man in, should have been ejected from the game.

I get your a Leafs fan too Lucas.

But it's a blindside hit, no matter how you look at it.

The only reason this didn't get worst is because Kadri didn't, fortunately, hit Weber on the head.

blind would mean he didn't see it coming, kadri skated directly at him, I don't see how that's blindsiding

he simply hit him and got a good piece of him, shoulder first...if it was a headshot and that was the penalty that's an ejection.

Not entirely, but I don't think it was dirty. Weber may not have seen him coming, but it wasn't a shot to the head, either.

Weber came out from behind the net with the puck, and Kadri lined him up. Those hits always look huge, and I don't think any fan likes seeing their guy on the train tracks when that happens, but unless it's a head shot/the guy doesn't have the puck/a charge, it's not inherently dirty.

He skated directly at him from an angle Weber couldn't see him coming from. That's blindside.

It was a dangerous and stupid play responding to a dangerous a stupid play from Pacioretty.

The refs are just as much to blame for letting this escalate than the players involved are.

Scabies I agree that Kadri was clear revenge head hunting but it really wasn't blind side.

I think Weber is used to being over-sized to most players so he let his guard down and had his head between his knees. He went a good 10ft from behind the net where he didn't break his stare from the puck.

What I didn't like about the hit, which a lot of players are doing now, is the clipping. Guys won't go 'through' the player as much any more and rather try and take all upper-body.

I get what you're saying, but considering the very small difference between hitting the player on the shoulder vs the head on that play, call it dangerous if not dirty, I don't like it.

benn or the goalie should have warned him.

but mostly weber should have been expecting to be hit. if you are carrying the puck, you need to be aware of hits coming.

I'm all for protecting yourself and your teamates.

But the game is going so goddamn fast, once a player decides to charge in, very little time to react.

Fair enough and that's a well thought out opinion Mark.

Even from that angle though, I don't see how Weber the way he was skating with the puck, could have seen him coming until the very last second.

Too dangerous for my liking.

Can somebody please put up an animated .gif of the hit so we can get to the bottom of this?

Fair enough but I think Weber took an ill-advised path with his head not on a swivel really. The only way he get's hit directly from the front is from Symba jumping over the glass. Agree to disagree it is.

There a lot of little things that creep into the game that I dislike. One being players trying to spin off hits instead of absorbing, tapping is a bad one that they've tried to address (I guess...), etc etc.
